About TalKlang FestiVal

TalKlang FestiVal is a small, refined music festival held every autumn in unexpected locations around the municipality of Campo Tures (Sand in Taufers), in the Ahrntal valley, South Tyrol. Concerts, sound walks, musical meditations, and live installations take place in chapels, barns, warehouses, and amidst the natural landscape. The name means "sound of the valley": the goal is to engage in a dialogue with the alpine environment through silence, listening, and live music.

A festival that listens to the valley

The TalKlang FestiVal is a musical event held in October in the municipality of Campo Tures (Sand in Taufers), located in the Ahrntal valley in the province of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige. The name combines the German words Tal (valley) and Klang (sound), perfectly capturing the spirit of the event: creating a dialogue between music and nature by bringing sounds into unexpected places. The organizers describe it as "the small and refined festival: music in and with nature," dedicated to silence, harmony, and a new way of listening.

Music in surprising places

What makes TalKlang FestiVal unique is its choice of venues. Concerts and performances are not held in traditional halls, but in atmospheric spots scattered throughout the valley: mountain chapels, wooden barns, artisan workshops, trails, and natural spaces. Past editions have featured venues such as the Predoi Climate Center, Tures Castle (Burg Taufers), the Church of San Maurizio, the "Stoanehaus" in Molini di Tures, the Engl carpentry shop in Campo Tures, and the Santo Spirito chapel in Predoi.

The program

The festival offers an immersive experience that goes beyond a simple concert. The program includes sound walks (Klang-Spaziergänge), silent walks, musical meditations, open-score concerts, and participatory live installations. There are also moments dedicated to forest bathing (Waldbaden), serenades, and yodeling, alongside evening concerts and "Nachtklang," the festival within the festival. The artistic direction is led by pianist and conductor Guy Vandromme, who brings Italian and international musicians, actors, and artists to Campo Tures.

An exclusive experience

To preserve the intimacy and connection with the locations, many events have limited capacity and require booking through the Campo Tures tourist office. Organizers recommend reaching the venues by public transport or e-bike, in line with the festival's commitment to sustainability and respect for the alpine environment of the Ahrntal valley.

Campo Tures and the Ahrntal valley

Located at the entrance to the Ahrntal valley, the municipality of Campo Tures is dominated by the imposing Tures Castle and surrounded by peaks exceeding three thousand meters. In this setting, TalKlang FestiVal becomes an invitation to discover the region in autumn, when the forests turn vibrant colors and the valley offers a secluded atmosphere, perfect for a festival that makes silence and listening its protagonists.
