About Millina Kischta

The Millina Kischta is the traditional Kirchtag (parish fair) of Molini di Tures (Mühlen in Taufers), a village in the municipality of Campo Tures in the Tures and Aurina Valley, South Tyrol. Organized by the local volunteer fire brigade (Freiwillige Feuerwehr Mühlen), the festival takes place every September at the village Festplatz, blending faith, South Tyrolean folklore, and conviviality: the raising of the 'Michlbaum', brass bands, folk groups, dancing in the marquee, and the grand final raffle of the decorated tree.

The Millina Kischta in Molini di Tures

The Millina Kischta is the Kirchtag of Molini di Tures (German: Mühlen in Taufers), a picturesque village nestled at an altitude of 862 meters at the entrance to the Selva dei Molini Valley, within the municipality of Campo Tures in the Tures and Aurina Valley (Tauferer Ahrntal), in the province of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige. The Kirchtag is the ancient feast commemorating the consecration of the parish church, an event that throughout South Tyrol masterfully blends religious tradition with popular, convivial celebration.

A Fire Brigade Festival

In Molini di Tures, the Millina Kischta is organized by the Freiwillige Feuerwehr Mühlen in Taufers, the local volunteer fire brigade, which sets up the Festplatz with a large marquee every year. The event traditionally takes place in September over three days, from Saturday to Monday, attracting both locals and holidaymakers visiting the Tauferer Ahrntal.

The Michlbaum and Traditions

The symbolic heart of the Kischta is the raising of the Michlbaum (or Kischtamichlbam), a tall, fresh spruce topped with a characteristic straw puppet dressed in traditional attire, the "Kischtamichl". The tree is erected at the start of the festival and remains the focal point for three days of music and dance, before being awarded in the final raffle on Monday.

Music, Brass Bands, and Dancing

  • Concert and parade by the Molini di Tures brass band (Musikkapelle Mühlen), featuring folk dance performances;
  • Entertainment with popular music groups and Tyrolean dance orchestras under the marquee;
  • Dance evenings with live bands and DJs;
  • The grand final raffle of the decorated tree and other prizes.

An Authentic South Tyrolean Experience

The Millina Kischta is a genuine, grassroots festival, far removed from mass tourism: here, you can breathe the true atmosphere of the Tures Valley villages, surrounded by speck, Krapfen, beer, and traditional music. For those visiting the Aurina and Tures Valleys at the end of summer, the Kirchtag in Molini di Tures is the perfect opportunity to experience South Tyrolean folklore and hospitality firsthand.

Millina Kischta — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Millina Kischta, the Kirchtag of Molini di Tures organized by the volunteer fire brigade, is expected as usual in September at the village Festplatz. Official dates and the program for 2026 have not yet been announced by the organizers; however, the traditional features of the festival are confirmed, including the raising of the Michlbaum, brass bands, folk groups, dancing in the marquee, and the final raffle.

The Millina Kischta 2026 is expected to take place, as per tradition, on a weekend in September in Molini di Tures (Mühlen in Taufers), a village in the municipality of Campo Tures, province of Bolzano. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the Freiwillige Feuerwehr Mühlen in Taufers. The detailed program will be published by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the festival; visitors can expect the elements that characterize the Kischta every year, from the raising of the Michlbaum to brass band concerts and dance evenings under the marquee.
