The Taccuzzelle and Beans Festival enlivens the hamlet of Pastena in Castelpetroso (province of Isernia) on the first Sunday of August, coinciding with the feast of Saint Nicholas of Bari. Devotion and gastronomy intertwine in a day that attracts residents from nearby hamlets and emigrants returning to their hometown for the summer.
Taccuzzelle: Pasta of Tradition
The stars of the table are taccuzzelle, a typical Molise pasta, hand-rolled and cut, served with beans according to the simple and hearty recipe of the inland areas. This unique dish represents the peasant cuisine of Alto Molise, made with simple ingredients and requiring long preparation.

The Pastena festival is part of the calendar of gastronomic festivals that, during the summer months, animate the hamlets of Castelpetroso—from Indiprete with its sciuscielle and ciabbotta, to Camere with its gnocchi. A mosaic of village traditions preserved by the Pro Loco and local committees.

How to get there
Pastena is a hamlet of Castelpetroso (IS), reachable by car from the SS17 in the Isernia Matese area. The festival takes place in the hamlet's spaces, near the church of San Nicola.
