The chamber music festival in the heart of the Biella area, in Salussola
Suoni in Movimento is an itinerant music festival that has been enlivening the Biella territory in Piedmont since 2012, with concerts hosted in evocative, history-steeped venues: churches, villas, castles, museums, and natural sites. Produced by the NISI ArteMusica association, the festival weaves together music, nature, and cultural heritage, offering a slow, immersive way to experience the region, where listening is paired with walks, guided tours, and cultural encounters.
The Musical Spring section is the chapter the festival dedicates to the town of Salussola, in the province of Biella. It consists of a series of chamber concerts and educational events held primarily in the Church of San Nicola da Tolentino and at Villa Ca' Bianca, two intimate venues that enhance the subtle nature of chamber music. The artistic direction is led by Elena Ballario, with Sergio Patria serving as general director.
In addition to the Musical Spring in Salussola, the overall program of Suoni in Movimento is divided into several sections covering the entire Biella area, including sound trails within the museum network and events at the Castle of Roppolo. The calendar embraces iconic local landmarks, from the UNESCO-listed Sanctuary of Oropa to Lake Viverone, offering an itinerary that combines classical music, landscapes, and local identity.
The festival provides a stage for both established musicians and young artists, with a special focus on composers and performers under 35, as well as original, multidisciplinary projects. Over the years, the festival has built a recognizable profile, capable of pairing classical repertoire with contemporary perspectives and themes of strong cultural and social relevance.
