Umbria's travelling festival stops in the medieval village of Montone
Suoni Controvento is a travelling festival of music and performing arts that, since 2017, has enlivened Umbrian summers by bringing concerts, theatre, talks, and trekking to the region's most beautiful villages and landscapes. Its philosophy is that of 'summer itineraries of sustainable culture', with a concrete focus on waste reduction and carbon footprint compensation.
Among the locations touched by the festival is Montone, in the province of Perugia, a splendid medieval village in the Upper Tiber Valley, listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy. Here, concerts find an exceptional setting in the Rocca di Braccio, linked to the memory of the condottiero Braccio Fortebraccio. It is in this scenario that the festival presents some of its most original and visionary musical projects.
The Montone stop is part of a larger programme that unfolds over weeks across various Umbrian towns. For the visitor, it is an opportunity to combine the discovery of a historic village with a quality musical offering, far from the major commercial circuits.
The 2026 edition marks the tenth edition of Suoni Controvento, taking place throughout Umbria from July 16 to September 13. For the Montone stop, the event is on July 24 at Rocca di Braccio.
On stage is drummer, composer, and producer Sarathy Korwar, who blends jazz, electronics, and influences from classical and popular Indian music into a powerful and visionary sound, rejecting any rigid cultural or musical label.
The Montone stop is part of the 2026 Suoni Controvento programme (July 16 - September 13), which touches numerous Umbrian locations with concerts, theatre, talks, and trekking. Full programme at suonicontrovento.it.
Montone (PG), Rocca di Braccio and spaces in the historic centre.
Suoni Controvento concerts are generally ticketed, with advance sales through the festival's official channels. Info and tickets at suonicontrovento.it.
Montone can be reached from the E45 Cesena-Orte, Montone/Umbertide exit, in the Upper Tiber Valley of Umbria.
