About Summer Reggia Opera Festival

Every summer, the Colorno Palace, in the Province of Parma, hosts the Summer Reggia Opera Festival: a series of evenings dedicated to grand opera, classical music, and dance, set in the evocative Historic Garden of the ducal palace. Amidst immortal arias, ballets, and concerts under the stars, the audience experiences the magic of Italian melodrama in one of Emilia-Romagna's most picturesque residences.

The Opera Festival of the Colorno Palace

The Summer Reggia Opera Festival is the summer event that transforms the Colorno Palace, a splendid ducal residence in the Municipality of Colorno, Province of Parma, into an open-air stage dedicated to opera, classical music, and dance each year. The evenings take place in the Palace's Historic Garden, a setting of rare beauty that provides a backdrop for the most beloved works of the Italian and international repertoire.

A Tradition of the Parma Region

Promoted by the Province of Parma and the Colorno Palace with the artistic direction of Parma OperArt, the festival will reach its 13th edition in 2026. In the heart of the so-called "Land of Verdi," a few kilometers from the birthplace of the great composer, the festival celebrates the musical identity of Emilia-Romagna, the region that gave birth to Giuseppe Verdi, Arturo Toscanini, and Luigi Illica. The 2026 edition is dedicated to the theme "In the Footsteps of Verdi, Illica, and Great Music".

Opera, Dance, and Symphonic Music

Each year, the program alternates titles from the great operatic repertoire, dance galas, symphonic concerts, and sacred music pieces. The performances feature orchestras, choirs, dancers, and opera singers from Italy and abroad, with productions designed for the evocative open-air acoustics of the ducal garden.

An Experience of Art and Heritage

Attending a performance at the Summer Reggia Opera Festival also means immersing yourself in the palace's historical and artistic heritage: on festival evenings, the doors of the Noble Floor of the Palace remain exceptionally open, offering spectators the chance to visit the ducal apartments before the performance. A rare blend of great music and history, making this event one of the most anticipated cultural happenings of the Parma summer.
