The masked parade on the seafront during Ferragosto week
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
In Cupra Marittima, an elegant seaside town on the Riviera delle Palme in the Province of Ascoli Piceno, Carnival doesn't wait for February. The Summer Carnival is one of the most beloved traditions of the Ferragosto calendar: a masked parade that takes place along the seafront, when the coast is packed with tourists and holidaymakers. It's an informal and joyful event, far from the solemnity of the great winter carnivals, designed specifically to involve those spending their holidays on the Marche coast.
The event is aimed at a young audience and those who love summer nightlife by the sea, but it remains a party for all ages: children, families, and groups of friends dress up and join the procession. In the late afternoon, the costumed participants parade along Lungomare Bergmark, Viale Romita, and Via Nazario Sauro, in a colourful procession that crosses the tourist heart of the town and then returns to the starting point. Upon return, the party continues with music, dancing, and the traditional evening DJ set that livens up the beach until late.
The Summer Carnival has a slightly competitive and very fun-loving spirit: in recent editions, the Pro Loco has awarded prizes for the most original costume and the largest group, as well as a special award from the association itself. Elaborate costumes are not required: the invitation is to improvise, have fun, and add colour to the seafront.
The Summer Carnival is part of the rich programme of events that the Municipality of Cupra Marittima and the Pro Loco organize during Ferragosto week, alongside other historical events such as 'Quartieri senza frontiere' (Districts without borders), a competition between Cupra's neighbourhoods with games, treasure hunts, and sand sculptures. It is one of the elements that makes summer in Cupra, in the Marche region, a season of continuous festivals between the sea, music, and popular traditions.
The Summer Carnival 2026 in Cupra Marittima is confirmed as one of the events promoted by the Municipal Administration and the Pro Loco: it is indeed listed in the public notice for seeking sponsors for cultural, sports, and tourism events in 2026 published by the Municipality. At present, neither the precise date nor the detailed program for the 2026 edition have been released. Based on recent editions, the event is scheduled for Ferragosto week (typically between August 13th and 17th) and includes the masked parade along the seafront, with music, dancing, and an evening DJ set. Information will be updated as soon as the Municipality and the Pro Loco of Cupra Marittima publish the definitive summer calendar.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition has not yet been published. It will be announced by the Pro Loco and the Municipality of Cupra Marittima with the release of the summer events calendar, usually in the weeks preceding Ferragosto.
The parade takes place on the seafront of Cupra Marittima (AP): Lungomare Bergmark, Viale Romita, and Via Nazario Sauro, starting and ending on the central stretch of the coastline.
By car: Exit at Grottammare on the A14 motorway, then take the SS16 Adriatica road to Cupra Marittima. By train: Cupra Marittima station is on the Adriatic line (AnconaโPescara), a short walk from the seafront. Nearest airports: Ancona-Falconara and Pescara.
The event is held during Ferragosto week, generally between August 13th and 17th, from late afternoon into the evening. Participation and access are free. For updated dates and the programme, it is advisable to consult the Municipality's tourist portal and the Pro Loco of Cupra Marittima's channels.
