Three nights of street food, music, and entertainment in the heart of Pomigliano d'Arco

SUGO Again – Street Food is a street food festival that, for three nights, turns the center of Pomigliano d'Arco, in the province of Naples, into a long, open-air gourmet route. Established in 2023, the event has become a staple of the municipal summer calendar: it is not confined to a fenced-off area on the outskirts of town, but rather a celebration that occupies the city's main shopping streets and squares.
Food stalls are set up along Via Terracciano, Via Ercole Cantone, and Piazza Giovanni Leone, the main arteries of the town center. They are managed by pubs, restaurants, and businesses from Pomigliano, Naples, and other provinces, offering a mix of traditional Campanian street food and more contemporary dishes. The route is complemented by two equipped dining areas where visitors can sit and relax between tastings.
The artistic heart of the festival is Piazza Giovanni Leone, where every evening, usually starting at 9:00 PM, free concerts and shows take place. In 2025, the lineup featured jazz artist Marco Zurzolo as a preview for the Pomigliano Jazz festival, comedian Simone Schettino, and Neapolitan music star Gigi Finizio, who closed the three-day event in front of thousands of people. It is a formula that brings together diverse audiences, from young people to families and visitors from neighboring towns.
The event is promoted by the Municipality of Pomigliano d'Arco in partnership with the Proloco Pomigliano Association, with the support of the Campania Region and the collaboration of the Pomigliano Jazz Foundation. The administration's stated goal is twofold: to strengthen the city's urban identity and to boost local businesses during the summer sales period by bringing the festivities directly to the storefronts rather than an isolated area. As councilor Marianna Manna explained, SUGO was intentionally placed "in the beating heart of the city," among shops and commercial activities.
Located just outside Naples in the Campania region, Pomigliano d'Arco is best known for its industrial history and Pomigliano Jazz, one of the longest-running festivals in Southern Italy. SUGO Again fits perfectly into this tradition of widespread events: the choice to host a jazz preview within a street festival perfectly illustrates how culture and popular conviviality coexist here without any friction.
The editions held so far have taken place in July, spanning three nights from Friday to Sunday: in 2025, it ran from July 4th to 6th as part of the "Pomigliano d'Estate" summer program. The dates for the new edition are usually announced shortly before the event via the Municipality and Proloco Pomigliano channels: it is worth keeping an eye on them starting in June.
