The city kart circuit in the heart of the Bologna Apennines
Streets Kart is the event that has brought karts back to the streets of Castiglione dei Pepoli, a municipality in the Metropolitan City of Bologna nestled in the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, in Emilia-Romagna. After almost forty years of waiting, the historic centre of the town is once again transformed into a real track, where drivers race through bends, barriers, and makeshift grandstands, under the eyes of a large and passionate crowd.
The event is the second round of the National Area North City Circuits Trophy, the championship dedicated to kart races held in urban centres. Over seventy drivers from all over Italy battle it out for two days, in a weekend that combines competitive racing and village festivities. The event was conceived by Vito Piarulli, who was also involved in Rallylegend, and is organised by REW Events with the technical direction of the Karting Sicilia group, the support of the Municipality of Castiglione dei Pepoli, the Automobile Club Bologna, and ACI Sport.
Castiglione dei Pepoli boasts a long history linked to motorsport: in the eighties, drivers destined for professional careers such as Thomas Biagi, Max Angelelli, and Marco Apicella took their first steps on its city circuit. Streets Kart picks up that legacy and relaunches it with a contemporary spirit, complementing the races with an area dedicated to historic karts, featuring exhibitions that revive the atmosphere of competitions from forty years ago.
Streets Kart is a full-blown urban festival. Alongside the track, the programme offers:
The result is an event capable of animating the entire Apennine village, attracting families, sports fans, and tourists for a July weekend dedicated to speed and conviviality.
The second edition of Streets Kart confirms its date in the Bologna Apennines for July 11 and 12, 2026. On the city circuit of Castiglione dei Pepoli, over seventy drivers from all over Italy compete in the second round of the National Area North City Circuits Trophy. Alongside the races, the weekend offers a street food area, live music, a market, and an exhibition area, as well as exhibitions dedicated to historic karts. The organisation is handled by REW Events with technical direction from Karting Sicilia.
Throughout the weekend, there will be a market, exhibition area, and historic kart demonstrations. Times are subject to change: it is advisable to check the organisation's official channels.
Castiglione dei Pepoli is located in the Bologna Apennines, along the historic route between Bologna and Florence. By car, it can be reached from the A1 motorway (reference exits Pian del Voglio or Roncobilaccio) or from the state road; by train, the nearest station is Castiglione dei Pepoli-Baragazza, on the Bologna-Florence Direttissima line.
Public viewing is provided along the circuit set up in the historic centre. During race days, some streets are closed to traffic: it is advisable to follow the signs and park in the designated areas on the outskirts of the town.
Bring comfortable clothing and sun protection for the central hours of the day. For updated schedules and traffic details, it is best to consult the official channels of the Municipality of Castiglione dei Pepoli and REW Events.
