Great street food on wheels at the Darsena of Ferrara
The STREEAT Food Truck Festival is one of Italy's most renowned traveling street food events and regularly stops in Ferrara, in Emilia-Romagna, transforming the picturesque Darsena di San Paolo, along the city's riverfront, into a large open-air gastronomic village. For three days, mobile kitchens โ Piaggio Ape trucks, vans, carts, caravans, and equipped trailers โ are set up along the dock, offering a journey through the flavors of the entire peninsula and the world.
Founded in 2014 and promoted by Barley Arts together with Buono - Food & Events, STREEAT has made selection its hallmark: the protagonists are chefs and restaurateurs who have chosen mobile kitchens as a lifestyle, prioritizing the quality of ingredients and the care of preparation over traditional fixed-location cooking. The festival thus distinguishes itself from classic local fairs with its contemporary approach and focus on gourmet street food.
Along the Darsena, you'll find a wide variety of Italian and international offerings. Among the cuisines featured in Ferrara editions have been:
Italian craft beers and a selection of beverages are also available, with vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and lactose-free options to cater to all dietary needs.
In addition to the gastronomic offerings, STREEAT features live music and quality DJ sets that accompany the evenings, making the Darsena a meeting point for families, groups of friends, and the curious. The riverside setting, just a short walk from the historic center of Ferrara โ a UNESCO World Heritage city โ adds charm to an event that combines good food, conviviality, and outdoor living.
Having become an anticipated event in the Province of Ferrara's calendar, the STREEAT Food Truck Festival enlivens the Darsena with free admission, confirming itself as one of the most popular occasions to discover the street food culture in Emilia-Romagna.
From May 15 to 17, 2026, the Darsena di San Paolo hosted the fifth Ferrara edition of the STREEAT Food Truck Festival. Thirteen food trucks โ including Mexico Puro Sabor, La Sicilia, Temakhino, Scottadito, and Smash โ animated the riverfront with tacos, arancini, sushi and pokรฉ, smash burgers, arrosticini, and desserts. Craft beers and vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options were available. Free admission and live music accompanied the evenings.
