The charity run and walk in Grignasco
StraGrignasco is a non-competitive running event and community walk held every year in Grignasco, a small town in Upper Piedmont in the province of Novara, at the foot of the Valsesia valley. Established in 2015, it has quickly become a highly anticipated spring tradition in Grignasco, attracting families, athletes, and anyone who enjoys a pleasant stroll in the fresh air.
The hallmark of StraGrignasco is its commitment to solidarity. The entire proceeds from registration fees are donated to the IGEA Prevenzione, salute, vita ODV association, an organization actively supporting socio-health projects in the local area. In recent years, the fundraising has been dedicated to purchasing portable radiological equipment, designed to provide home X-ray services for the elderly and vulnerable people of Valsesia.
The day is organized into several routes to involve all age groups:
The meeting point is in Piazza Cacciami, while departures take place from Via Roma at staggered times. At the end, participants gather for a social moment with refreshments.
Organized by the municipal administration of Grignasco with the technical support of Atletica Valsesia and the collaboration of the Pro Loco, StraGrignasco is much more than just a race: it is a festive occasion for the entire community of Grignasco and neighboring towns. Sport, joy, and care for the most vulnerable blend together in an event that perfectly captures the spirit of this corner of Piedmont.
The 7th edition of StraGrignasco was held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, in Grignasco. The meeting point was set from 8:30 AM in Piazza Cacciami, with staggered departures from Via Roma: at 10:00 AM the Nano Giro (600 m), at 10:15 AM the Mini Giro (1 km), and at 10:30 AM the non-competitive Giro of approximately 5.5 km, followed by the community walk and refreshments at the Comune Vecchio.
Registration fees were 3 euros for the Nano and Mini Giro and 6 euros for the Giro and the walk, with all proceeds donated to the IGEA association to support the purchase of portable radiological equipment for home X-rays. About 150 participants took part in the event, including numerous athletes from Atletica Valsesia and many children in the events dedicated to them.
Grignasco is located in the province of Novara, in Upper Piedmont. By car, it can be reached via the A26 motorway (Romagnano Sesia-Ghemme exit), continuing towards Valsesia. By train, it is served by the Novara-Varallo line, with a station in Grignasco.
Registrations are collected on the day of the event in Piazza Cacciami starting at 8:30 AM. Indicative fee: 3 euros for the Nano and Mini Giro, 6 euros for the Giro and the walk. All proceeds are donated to the IGEA association.
