Statte in Corsa is a road running event held in the Municipality of Statte, a town located in the belt just north of Taranto, in Puglia. Established in 2024 by the A.S.D. Taranto Sportiva, the race has quickly become one of the most anticipated autumn events on the Ionian province's running calendar, attracting registered athletes, amateur runners, walkers, and entire families.

The Course

The heart of the event is the 9.5 km competitive race, which is FIDAL-certified and officially timed. The route follows a loop that winds through the town center and suburban roads, alternating between urban and scenic stretches with the climbs and descents characteristic of the hills that define the Taranto hinterland. The start is set at the FSE Station Square, while the meeting point, finish line, and refreshment area are located at the BioPiazza, the event's logistical hub.

More than just competition: races for everyone

Statte in Corsa is not just for competitive athletes. The program includes several non-competitive events designed to encourage wider participation:

• a non-competitive run over the same distance for non-registered runners;
• a 3 km fun walk, open to everyone aged 13 and up;
• races reserved for youngsters, with shorter distances for children aged 6 to 12.

This format makes the event an authentic community sports festival, where the competitive spirit blends with the promotion of exercise, well-being, and social interaction.

Prizes and Atmosphere

The event awards the overall male and female winners as well as the top-ranked teams, with prizes that in recent editions have included draws for free bibs for major national marathons. Along the course, pacers with colorful balloons help participants manage their pace, while the finish line area features refreshments, a massage service, and live musical entertainment.

Statte and the surrounding area

Situated at an altitude of approximately 138 meters in the Taranto Murgia, the Municipality of Statte offers a setting that blends urban life with the rural landscape of the province of Taranto. The event, which has received municipal patronage over the years and is linked to the region's sporting spirit ahead of the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games, is also an opportunity to discover an authentic corner of Ionian Puglia, far from the main tourist circuits.

At the moment, the dates for the 2026 edition of Statte in Corsa have not yet been officially announced by the organizers.
