The Spring Walk of Mondaino

The Spring Walk is one of the most beloved events of the spring calendar in Mondaino, a small and charming medieval village in the Province of Rimini, in Emilia-Romagna, overlooking the Valconca just a few kilometers from the border with the Marche region. Every year, on April 25th, the Pro Loco Tourist Association of Mondaino invites residents and visitors to spend a day in close contact with nature and the hilly landscape surrounding the town.

A medium-difficulty itinerary

The walk offers a medium-difficulty route that winds through trails, countryside, and breathtaking panoramas of the Rimini hinterland. The meeting point is set in Piazza Maggiore, the heart of the village dominated by the Malatesta Palace, from where participants set off in a group to immerse themselves in the colors and scents of the Romagna spring. It is not a competitive race, but a walk suitable for families, trekking enthusiasts, and curious individuals who wish to rediscover the territory on foot.

The stop at the Castle of Cerreto

Along the route, there is a stop at the Castle of Cerreto, where walkers can admire the view, catch their breath, and enjoy a snack with products from the "Le Perle di Cerreto" farm. It is one of the most evocative moments of the day, amidst nature, history, and genuine flavors of the Valconca.

Lunch at the former Convent of the Poor Clares

Arrival is scheduled at the former Convent of the Poor Clares, in Contrada Borgo, where participants are welcomed with a surprise lunch featuring traditional local dishes. All registered participants also receive a spring plant as a gift, offered by a local company: a small token that embodies the convivial and green spirit of the event.

Mondaino, home of the Palio del Daino

The Spring Walk is also an opportunity to discover Mondaino, famous for its Palio del Daino, the great medieval historical re-enactment that animates the town every summer. The village, with its unique semi-circular square, the Paleontological Museum, and the Malatesta walls, is an ideal destination for those seeking slow tourism focused on nature, culture, and gastronomy, away from the Riviera but just minutes from the sea.
