A spring choral concert in Tavagnasco, celebrating the bond between choirs
Spring Notes is the choral festival that brings music to Tavagnasco every spring—a charming town overlooking the Dora Baltea river at the gateway to the Aosta Valley, in the Piedmont region. The initiative is promoted and organized by the Coro Rio Fontano Mimosa APS, led by maestro Alberto Giovanetto, who has made this concert a cornerstone of the town's cultural calendar for years.
More than just a concert, Spring Notes is an opportunity for choral and musical groups from across Italy to connect. Each edition features guest choirs and ensembles, welcomed by the singers of Tavagnasco in a spirit of friendship and cultural exchange. The day often begins with a guided tour of the village and concludes with a convivial dinner, reflecting the warm hospitality that has always defined Canavese traditions.
The program weaves together folk songs, sacred music, and original compositions, performed a cappella or with instrumental accompaniment. Over the years, the festival has hosted groups such as the Coro Artemusica of Valperga, the Cappella Musicale del Duomo and University Choir of Camerino, and the Increscendo Wind Ensemble, alternating between voices and wind instruments in a varied and engaging lineup.
The concert takes place in the evocative Confraternita del Gesù, one of Tavagnasco's historic buildings, whose intimate acoustics perfectly enhance choral singing. In some editions, performances have also been held in the parish church of Santa Margherita.
The evening concludes with a traditional dinner prepared by the Pro Loco and the Alpini Group, featuring typical Canavese dishes and the unmissable miasse of Tavagnasco—thin cornmeal wafers cooked between red-hot iron plates, a true gastronomic symbol of the area. Spring Notes is both a musical event and a community celebration, blending the pleasure of listening with the joy of dining and friendship.
