About Bach in the Subways
Bach Among the People
"Bach in the Subways" is an international movement born to bring the music of Johann Sebastian Bach back to the people, performing it for free in public places, on the occasion of the composer's birth anniversary. In Campobasso, the capital of Molise, the initiative is promoted by the "Lorenzo Perosi" State Conservatory of Music as part of its Spring Music.
Concerts in Unusual Places
The festival brings Baroque music to unexpected spaces: the lecture hall of the University of Molise, the main Post Office, the atrium of the Cardarelli Hospital. Conservatory students and faculty perform for those simply going about their daily activities, offering moments of beauty and surprise to visitors, patients, and passers-by.
The Perosi Ensembles
The protagonists of the concerts are the Conservatory's ensembles, including "I Galanti Perosi", along with solo pianists, flute duos, percussion classes, and wind ensembles. A project that brings great music closer to a wider audience and demonstrates the vitality of the Perosi Conservatory in the cultural life of the Province of Campobasso and the entire Molise Region.
Bach in the Subways — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of "Bach in the Subways" celebrated Johann Sebastian Bach's birth anniversary in Campobasso with a series of free concerts in everyday locations. The ensembles and students of the "Lorenzo Perosi" Conservatory, including "I Galanti Perosi" conducted by Maestro Lelio Di Tullio, were the stars, with programs ranging from the Inventions to the Brandenburg Concertos, from the Minuets to the famous Chaconne in D minor.

Friday, March 20 — University of Molise (Faculty of Agriculture)
- 12:00 PM — Solo Piano: Inventions, Preludes, and Fugues
- 2:30 PM — Ensemble "I Galanti Perosi" (dir. M° Lelio Di Tullio): Brandenburg Concertos and "Bach in Ukraine"
- Afternoon — Percussion Class: Bach on vibraphone and marimba
Saturday, March 21 — Main Post Office, Campobasso
- 11:00 AM — Minuets and Sonatas for service users
Thursday, March 26 — Atrium of Cardarelli Hospital, Campobasso
- From 1:00 PM — Music for patients and healthcare staff, with the return of "I Galanti Perosi" in the afternoon
Friday, March 27 — Post Office on Via XXIV Maggio, Isernia
- 12:00 PM and 2:30 PM — Including the Chaconne in D minor and Bach's Sinfonias
