The festival that heralds spring in the historic center of San Michele all'Adige
Every year, at the beginning of March, the historic center of San Michele all'Adige transforms into a vibrant celebration space for the Spring Festival, a highly anticipated event for the entire Rotaliana Plain. Organized by the Pro Loco with the support of the Municipality, the event attracts thousands of visitors annually, not only from the village but from across the province, who fill the streets for the entire day.
The heart of the festival is the market fair that winds through the streets of the center: stalls featuring hobbyists, street vendors, creative crafts, and all kinds of products color the village from morning until evening. In the new square at the entrance to the town, the 'Arti dell'ingegno creativo' association market, managed by the Pro Loco, showcases original handmade creations.
Among the most characteristic moments is the campanò, the traditional bell concert played by hand by the 'Amici del campanò' from the tower of the San Michele Arcangelo church: a sound that accompanies the festivities and recalls the ancient Trentino bell-ringing tradition. In the afternoon, the squares come alive with live music, featuring bands and performances that entertain the public until evening.
The Spring Festival is designed for all ages. The funfair, set up in the municipal parking area, and workshops for children make it a family-friendly day. There is no shortage of solidarity-focused moments: stands from the Avis group offering free health checks and information on blood donation, as well as booths from the Alpini, the SAT, the parish youth center, the Acli Circle, and numerous local volunteer associations, alongside the children's market and the unmissable 'pot of luck' raffle.
Located in the Municipality of San Michele all'Adige, in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige) and home to the renowned Edmund Mach Foundation, the Spring Festival offers free admission and is one of the most cherished events in the local spring calendar. Bar services and sweets sold by local associations complete a day of celebration that unites tradition, community, and joy.
The 2026 Spring Festival took place on Sunday, March 8, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, bringing the historic center of San Michele all'Adige to life with the traditional market fair, creative craft stalls, and the children's funfair.
The musical program featured afternoon performances in Piazza Chistè by The Nautilus Band (from 2:30 PM) and the group Una Tantum (from 5:00 PM), while the characteristic campanò rang out from the tower of the San Michele Arcangelo church. There were also moments of solidarity with Avis stands, free health checks, a children's market, bar service, and sweets sold by local associations. A free event organized by the Pro Loco San Michele all'Adige.
