About Spring Fair

The Spring Fair is one of the most beloved events in Cesena's city calendar, in the heart of Romagna. Every spring, over a hundred travelling merchants liven up Piazza del Popolo and Viale Mazzoni with stalls of all kinds: gift items, clothing, footwear, home furnishings, children's toys, and typical products. A free outdoor celebration for the whole family, opening the beautiful season in the streets of Cesena's historic centre.

The fair that opens spring in Cesena

The Spring Fair is one of the most deeply rooted traditional fairs in the calendar of the Municipality of Cesena, in the Province of Forlì-Cesena, in Emilia-Romagna. Included every year among the official events approved by the municipal council, it represents the appointment that symbolically marks the arrival of the good season in Cesena's historic centre.

Stalls and goods in Piazza del Popolo

For an entire day, the historic Piazza del Popolo and the first stretch of Viale Mazzoni, up to the intersection with Via Pio Battistini, are filled with stalls and stands. The fair follows the layout of the Saturday market and brings together the best of travelling trade in Romagna: gift items, home furnishings, clothing, footwear, toys for the little ones, accessories, and much more. In the richest editions, over a hundred exhibitors, up to more than one hundred and forty travelling operators, have been present.

A widespread celebration in the historic centre

The Spring Fair is not just a large market: it is a day of celebration that invites Cesena residents and visitors to stroll through the streets and squares of the centre. Over the years, the administration has chosen to make the event increasingly widespread, often combining it with other events on the same weekend, such as the 'Regioni d'Europa' Market Exhibition with its gastronomic and craft stands, or travelling festivals dedicated to quality street food. The result is a lively spring weekend that animates the entire heart of the city.

A tradition of Romagnolo trade

Organised by the Municipality of Cesena in collaboration with travelling trade associations (FIVA Confcommercio and ANVA Confesercenti), the Spring Fair is part of a cycle of seasonal fairs that mark the Cesena year, from the Autumn Fair to the Christmas Fair. It is an opportunity to rediscover the tradition of piazza fairs, still deeply felt in Romagna today, and to experience Cesena's historic centre on a day of sunshine and celebration.
