The spring concert of the Vahrn band

The Frühjahrskonzert der Musikkapelle Vahrn is the most important annual event for the music band of Vahrn, a municipality in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, in Trentino-South Tyrol. Every spring, Haus Voitsberg hosts this evening dedicated to wind music (Blasmusik), a tradition deeply rooted in South Tyrolean culture, where almost every town has its own Musikkapelle.

A tradition since 1992

The spring concert in its current form began in 1992, when the first concert was organized at Haus Voitsberg for the parish festival (Kirchtagskonzert). Since then, the event has become firmly established and is now considered the most anticipated cultural moment of the year in Vahrn. The Musikkapelle Vahrn, however, has much older roots: it was founded in 1871 by Gregor Mühlsteiger and today counts over 60 active musicians, accompanied by flag bearers and marketenderinnen.

The band and its direction

The ensemble is led by Kapellmeisterin Marion Goller, who has been conducting since 2023, while the association's presidency is held by Greti Oberhuber. The concert repertoire typically ranges from traditional band music to soundtracks and grand arrangements for wind instruments, in a program designed to showcase the various sections of the orchestra.

An event for the whole town

Beyond the spring concert, the Musikkapelle Vahrn accompanies the town's religious and civil celebrations throughout the year and takes part in numerous concerts and festivals across the Bressanone and Isarco Valley area. The Frühjahrskonzert remains the moment when the band presents itself to the public in its concert attire, in a hall packed with families, fans, and local supporters.
