The toughest granfondo in Europe, amidst the UNESCO Dolomites
The Sportful Dolomiti Race is one of the most famous and challenging amateur cycling events in Italy. Every year, in June, it brings over five thousand cyclists from around the world to Feltre (province of Belluno) to face the reputation of a race that calls itself 'the toughest granfondo in Europe'. The setting is the spectacular Belluno Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The event offers two courses: the Granfondo, 204 km with 4,900 meters of elevation gain, reserved for the fittest, and the Mediofondo, 133 km with 2,600 meters of elevation gain. Both cross some of the toughest climbs in the Prealps and Dolomites, including the famous Passo Croce d'Aune, where a monument commemorates Tullio Campagnolo: it was here, in 1924, that the inventor had the inspiration for the quick-release gear change that revolutionized world cycling.
The start and finish take place in the unique setting of Piazza Maggiore, the Renaissance heart of the city. The starting grid opens at 5:30 AM and the race starts at 7:00 AM. The event, organized by SSD Pedale Feltrino under the motto 'Only Real Cyclists', also includes the Mini Gran Fondo Sportful โ Franco Ballerini dedicated to children. An event that combines sport, landscape, and Feltre's identity.
