The Trail of Heroes is one of the most evocative mountain races in the Veneto region, set on the paths of Monte Grappa, the massif on the border between the provinces of Treviso and Vicenza. It's not just any trail: Monte Grappa is a sacred place dedicated to the memory of the First World War, the scene of decisive battles, and every step along its trails traverses the history of 20th-century Italy.
Three competitive distances
The race offers three competitive routes: the Trail of Heroes (46 km, 2,500 m elevation gain), the complete itinerary that goes from the Sanctuary of the Madonna di Valle Santa Felicita to Campo Croce, climbs to Cima Grappa, descends towards the Sentiero delle Meatte, and continues through Cima della Mandria, Monte Archeset, Val delle Mure, Altavia degli Eroi, and Monti Asoloni; the Sky of Heroes (27 km, 1,700 m elevation gain), the most popular, and a 12 km route.
For everyone too
Alongside the competitive races, the Trail of Heroes offers non-competitive routes: the Santa Felicita of Heroes (14 km, 800 m elevation gain) and the Mini Trail (1.5 km) dedicated to children. The start and finish are in Romano d'Ezzelino (Vicenza), at the foot of the massif. An event that intertwines nature, sport, and memory in the setting of Monte Grappa.
Trail of Heroes — edition 2026
The 2026 edition, the fifteenth, of the Trail of Heroes takes place on September 20 on the paths of Monte Grappa. Three competitive distances (46, 27, and 12 km) and non-competitive routes for everyone, with start and finish in Romano d'Ezzelino. Registrations open on April 25, 2026, with special promotions for those who register online within the first 24 hours.

Start and finish in Romano d'Ezzelino (VI), at the foot of Monte Grappa, near Bassano del Grappa. Reachable by car from the Grappa foothills road.
