The Spinazzola Carnival is one of the most beloved and long-standing public events in the town of Spinazzola, located in the Alta Murgia area of the Barletta-Andria-Trani province, in the heart of Puglia. Reaching its 66th edition in 2026, the event is a deeply ingrained tradition for locals, who don costumes and masks to fill the historic center's streets in a collective festive atmosphere.

The Allegorical Float Parade

The highlight of the festival is the parade of allegorical floats, built over the preceding months by local carnival groups and parading along Corso Vittorio Emanuele and the main city streets. The floats are accompanied by masqueraded groups, choreography, dancing, and live music, alongside tastings of traditional local products that punctuate the day. The parade involves entire families and children, creating an event that blends spectacle, craftsmanship, and popular participation.

Organization and Community

The event is promoted by the Pro Loco Torre e Pino of Spinazzola in collaboration with the Municipality of Spinazzola, with the stated goal of providing the community with a moment of harmony, joy, and fun. The Carnival is one of the year's main events for the town, attracting visitors from neighboring municipalities in the Alta Murgia and the BAT province.

The 2026 Edition

In 2026, the Spinazzola Carnival takes place exceptionally in spring: the parade is scheduled for Sunday, April 12, 2026, in Piazza Plebiscito, following the postponement of the date originally planned for the traditional period. The community thus gathers among masks, allegorical floats, and music to experience the festival together despite the calendar change.
