The Ferragosto market on the Cannobio lakefront, featuring collectibles, curiosities, and vintage treasures.
In the heart of summer, when the village of Cannobio is bustling with tourists and holidaymakers, the lakefront becomes the stage for a special day dedicated to collecting and discovering treasures from the past. The Ferragosto event, held on August 15th, has its roots in the historic Spazzacà initiative, created in 2005 by the cultural association La Gasgia: a popular, fun, and non-profit event designed to collect and redistribute used items long before recycling became a trend.
For years, Spazzacà enlivened the lakefront and Via Castello with stalls managed by local associations, parish groups, and community organizations: clothes, toys, paintings, pottery, magazines, and various objects were offered at symbolic prices, with proceeds supporting local volunteer efforts. Today, that spirit lives on in the Ferragosto collectors' market, which brings exhibitors, curious visitors, and enthusiasts in search of unique pieces to the Cannobio lakefront.
Along the lakeside promenade, you can discover curiosities and unique items to suit every taste:
The open-air format, overlooking the waters of Lake Maggiore, makes the visit enjoyable even for those who aren't avid collectors: a stroll among the stalls is the perfect way to experience the village on the most festive day of the summer.
