International photography from the Siena Awards takes over the doors and windows of Sovicille's historic center in an open-air exhibition
Sovicille Creative is the widespread section of the Siena Awards Photo Festival that, every autumn, turns the historic center of Sovicille, in the province of Siena, into an outdoor photography exhibition. For the fourth consecutive year, the village streets come alive with large photographs installed on the bricked-up doors and windows of houses, palaces, and historic buildings: a path that weaves together visual art, medieval architecture, and the landscape of the Sienese countryside, in the heart of Tuscany.
The project at the heart of the 2026 edition is titled "Fractures – Between Two Silences" and is signed by photographer Pedro Jarque Krebs. The images depict landscapes marked by conflict and the fragility of memory, establishing an unexpected dialogue between the village's perfectly preserved historic structures and places scarred by war. The result is a visual reflection on vulnerability, memory, and shared humanity, experienced while wandering through the silent alleys of Sovicille.
Sovicille Creative is not an isolated event: it is one of the chapters of the Siena Awards Photo Festival, the international event that every autumn transforms Siena and its neighboring villages—including Castelnuovo Berardenga—into a widespread network of exhibitions. Born in 2015 around the international SIPA (Siena International Photo Awards), Creative Photo Awards, and Drone Photo Awards competitions, the festival attracts tens of thousands of images from over 160 countries each year. The Sovicille section, in particular, stems from the selection of the best images from the Creative Photo Awards and stands out for its open-air format, which is free to discover while walking through the village.
Visiting Sovicille Creative means exploring the village with your gaze turned upward, between a bricked-up door and a window transformed into a photographic frame. It is an invitation to slow down, observe the details, and experience the province of Siena in an unusual and contemporary light, where great international photography meets the identity of a small Tuscan town. An experience suitable for everyone, combining a stroll through the historic center with the discovery of the most evocative corners of the Valdimerse territory.
For the fourth consecutive year, Sovicille Creative transforms the village's historic center into an open-air gallery. The 2026 edition presents the project "Fractures – Between Two Silences" by photographer Pedro Jarque Krebs: large images installed on the bricked-up doors and windows of historic buildings, in an unexpected dialogue between Sovicille's preserved architecture and landscapes marked by conflict.
The exhibition is part of the wider Siena Awards Photo Festival, spread across Siena, Sovicille, and Castelnuovo Berardenga, and remains open from October 10 to November 29, 2026.
