Great jazz music in the heart of the Syracuse province
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Sortino and Jazz is the summer concert series that brings world-class jazz to the squares of the historic center of Sortino, a town in the Province of Syracuse, Sicily. Nestled in the Iblei Mountains and overlooking the famous Pantalica Nature Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the village transforms into an open-air stage where music dialogues with the limestone of the narrow streets and the glow of summer evenings.
The event spans several evenings and takes place in some of the town's most characteristic spots, particularly Largo Peppino Impastato and Piazza Sortinesi nel Mondo. The choice to host concerts in public spaces, free and accessible to all, makes the event a popular and family-friendly gathering, attracting jazz enthusiasts, curious visitors, and vacationers in the Syracuse area.
The program alternates between names from the Italian jazz scene and international performers, with a special focus on piano music and the fusion of jazz, classical music, and Mediterranean influences. Over the years, the village has hosted original projects and high-quality ensembles that have expertly utilized the natural acoustics of the squares and the intimate connection with the audience.
Sortino and Jazz is part of a broader summer calendar of municipal events, featuring music, open-air cinema, culture, and local traditions, ranging from celebrations linked to Pantalica to local food festivals. For those visiting the Iblei, the festival is the perfect opportunity to discover an authentic village, rich in Baroque churches, museums of popular tradition, and a landscape unique to Sicily.
The dates and program for the 2026 edition have not yet been officially announced: we recommend following the official channels of the Municipality of Sortino for updates.
The return of Sortino and Jazz is expected for 2026, the summer concert series that brings life to the squares of the historic center of Sortino, in the Province of Syracuse. The dates and the lineup for the 2026 edition have not yet been released: updates on the program, artists, and locations will be published by the Municipality of Sortino and the festival's channels. As per tradition, the concerts are expected to take place outdoors, with free admission.
Sortino can be reached by car via the SS124 and the provincial roads connecting the village to Syracuse (approx. 35 km) and Catania (approx. 50 km). The nearest airport is Catania-Fontanarossa. The reference train station is in Syracuse, from where you can continue by bus.
The festival's concerts are usually held in the evening in the squares of the historic center, with free admission.
We recommend combining your visit to the concerts with an excursion to the Pantalica Reserve and the Anapo Valley, and tasting local specialties such as the "pizzolo sortinese" and Iblei honey.
