A series of cine-concerts blending live music and visuals in Syracuse
CineMusicFest is a series of cine-concerts held in Syracuse, in the heart of the Aretusean province, Sicily. Its formula is hybrid and original: the presence of live musicians coexists with a visual system designed as an active part of the evening. The vocals provide the emotional arc, the instruments build the sonic texture, and the video editing expands the perspective, bringing the experience closer to the language of cinema than a traditional concert.
The festival was born from the collaboration between the Post-Cinema association, a non-profit organization founded in Syracuse in 2023, and the Sicilian Baroque Orchestra (OBS), which manages ticket sales and organization. Artistic direction and coordination are entrusted to Ludovico Leone, who also handles the direction and video editing for the events, while Luca Ambrosio serves as president of the OBS. The underlying idea, as Leone himself explained, is to "bring the image back to the center" for an increasingly wide audience.
The festival moves between different spaces in the city. The Urban Center on Via Nino Bixio is the venue chosen to emphasize the contemporary and interdisciplinary nature of the project, capable of hosting unconventional cultural proposals. Previous editions have also animated Salvo Gattuso's Vistrรฒ on Via Gargallo, in the historic center of Ortigia, with the cine-concerts accompanied by an aperitif.
Each evening of CineMusicFest is dedicated to a specific musical and cinematic theme. Over the years, the festival has explored jazz and swing, singer-songwriter traditions, and the great names of Sicilian heritage, with tributes to iconic figures like Rosa Balistreri. The thematic structure allows the audience to follow the entire series or choose individual evenings, with dedicated subscription options.
For Syracuse and the entire eastern Sicily region, CineMusicFest represents a cultural event capable of rediscovering the ancient bond between sound and image, in a city that has made heritage and beauty its identity.
The 2026 edition of CineMusicFest opens on May 15, 2026 at the Urban Center in Syracuse, starting at 8:15 PM. The opening night features the vocals of Paola Modicano, the guitar of Nello Alessi, and videos by Ludovico Leone, in a continuous dialogue between sound and image.
The 2026 program includes five thematic cine-concerts and is part of the season celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Sicilian Baroque Orchestra. Among the announced artists is the swing singer Sandhya Nagaraja. The festival, organized in synergy with the Post-Cinema association, reaffirms the goal of "bringing the image back to the center" for an increasingly wide audience.
The Urban Center is located at Via Nino Bixio 1 in Syracuse, accessible by car and a short distance from the center. By train, the Syracuse station is connected to Catania and Catania-Fontanarossa Airport, the nearest hub.
Evenings offer full-price and reduced-price tickets, with subscription options for multiple shows. Presale and information via the Sicilian Baroque Orchestra.
Advance booking is recommended: the festival venues have limited capacity. Combine your visit with a stroll through the historic center of Ortigia.
