Sora Christmas City

Presented by Mayor Luca Di Stefano and Councilor for Culture Maria Paola Gemmiti, the 2025-2026 edition of Sora Christmas City brought the city to life from December 7, 2025, to January 7, 2026, with a program based on four pillars: culture, tourism, solidarity, and fun. The inauguration on December 7 lit up the artistic illuminations and the Christmas tree at the ascent of the Sanctuary of Madonna delle Grazie, featuring songs from the children's choir and the Sora City Symphonic Band in Piazza Santa Restituta, along with the grand Santa Claus parade along Corso Volsci.

Throughout the holiday period, the public enjoyed the ice rink, the Ferris wheel, Santa's Grotto, and the artisan wooden markets, as well as the market in the village of Carnello. The Canceglie district featured nativity scenes, reconstructed historic workshops, and an exhibition on Vittorio De Sica, while in Piazza Mayer Ross, the "Where History Flows" videomapping illuminated the facade of the Middle Liri Valley Museum. The final tally, with over 80,000 attendees, confirmed the event as one of the main Christmas celebrations in Southern Lazio.

The 2025-2026 edition calendar featured over 60 appointments across 11 locations. Highlights included:

• Sunday, December 7 — Inauguration day: Christmas markets in Piazza Indipendenza (8 AM - 8 PM, organized by the Il Sagittario Association); 4 PM inauguration of the nativity scene in Piazza XIII Gennaio (Via Napoli Association); 5 PM Santa Claus parade through Piazza Indipendenza, Corso Volsci, Lungoliri Rosati, and Piazza San Rocco; 5 PM "Where History Flows: our wonders told by Cicero" videomapping on the facade of the Middle Liri Valley Museum in Piazza Mayer Ross (repeats until 11 PM); 5:30 PM lighting of the illuminations and Christmas tree with the children's choir and the Sora City Symphonic Band in Piazza Santa Restituta; inauguration of the nativity scenes in the Canceglie district, the ice rink, and the Ferris wheel.
• Throughout the holidays — Ice rink in Piazza Santa Restituta, Ferris wheel, Santa's Grotto, craft markets in the center and in Carnello.
• Widespread calendar — Concerts, Christmas choirs, theatrical performances, artistic nativity scenes, exhibitions, guided tours of the city's treasures, creative workshops, storytelling, magic shows, tastings, and solidarity initiatives with local associations.
• Closing — Epiphany celebrations with the traditional Magi procession.

Where and when

The event takes place from early December to Epiphany in the historic center of Sora (province of Frosinone, Lazio): Piazza Santa Restituta, Piazza Indipendenza, Corso Volsci, Piazza Mayer Ross, the Canceglie district, and other city locations, as well as the village of Carnello.

How to get there

By car, Sora is accessible via the SS690 Avezzano-Sora expressway and the SS214 from Frosinone and Cassino; from the A1 motorway, take the Frosinone or Ferentino exit. COTRAL bus connections are available from Rome, Frosinone, and towns in the Liri Valley.

Events in the squares and streets of the center are free to access; tickets for individual attractions (ice rink, Ferris wheel) can be purchased on-site.
