The festival of youth languages in the former convent of San Francesco in Bagnacavallo
Sonora Fest is an event dedicated to youth languages that takes place every spring in Bagnacavallo, in the heart of Bassa Romagna in the province of Ravenna, in Emilia-Romagna. Promoted by Radio Sonora, the local youth web radio, together with the Union of Municipalities of Bassa Romagna and local youth associations, the festival has grown edition after edition to become a reference point for those who want to explore new ways of communicating and creating culture.
Sonora Fest focuses on the voices of new generations: podcasts, social media, music, photography, design, communication, and outreach are intertwined in a dense and varied program. Over the two days, there will be talks with guests from all over Italy, stand-up comedy shows, creative workshops, concerts, and DJ sets. There are also more intimate and original moments, such as the silent reading party or shared reading sessions.
The festival venue is the former convent of San Francesco, one of the most evocative historic buildings in Bagnacavallo, which with its cloisters and spaces offers a secluded and ideal setting for meetings, performances, and concerts. During the festival, the live Radio Sonora station is also active, broadcasting directly from the event and involving the public and guests.
Sonora Fest is entirely free and is aimed particularly at a young audience, but is open to all enthusiasts of music, culture, and new media. Supported through the European Social Fund Plus of the Emilia-Romagna Region, it represents an example of how the Municipality of Bagnacavallo and the Union of Municipalities of Bassa Romagna invest in youth policies and cultural participation in the territory.
The eighth edition of Sonora Fest was held on May 8 and 9, 2026, at the former convent of San Francesco in Bagnacavallo, bringing together content creators, podcasters, Instagrammers, singer-songwriters, designers, and writers.
On Friday, May 8, the program opened at 6:30 PM with the silent reading party, followed at 8 PM by Simone Biavati's photography talk "Punti due punti virgole di vista" (Points two points perspectives), stand-up comedy by Sandro Cappai and Salvo di Paola at 8:45 PM, and a DJ set by Perro Jimbo + Relative at 10 PM.
On Saturday, May 9, starting at 10 AM with the talk "Voices of young Europeans" about Erasmus, there were workshops on photography by Simone Biavati, La Giornata Tipo with Raffaele Ferraro and Matteo Soragna, beatboxing by Black Roll, talks by Livio Ricciardi and Edoardo Prati, the science outreach show "Ritorno sulla Luna" (Return to the Moon) by Adrian Fartade, a concert by Il Mago del Gelato, and the final DJ set by Polpette Soundsystem + Marco Martini. Singer-songwriter Scar brought her sounds between singer-songwriter and indie to the stage.
The former convent of San Francesco is located in the historic center of Bagnacavallo (RA), easily reachable by car from the Via Emilia and the A14 Bis motorway (Bagnacavallo exit). The Bagnacavallo train station is served by the Castel Bolognese-Ravenna line.
