A summer evening along the Naviglio Canal

Naviglio sotto le stelle is one of the most beloved events of the summer in Bagnacavallo, a town in the Bassa Romagna region of the province of Ravenna (Emilia-Romagna). For one evening, usually in mid-July, the stretch of the cycle-pedestrian path of the Naviglio Zanelli Canal connecting the center of Bagnacavallo to the hamlet of Villa Prati lights up with lights, flavors, and music, becoming a large, spread-out itinerary to be experienced by walking or cycling.

Along the Via Destra Canale Naviglio Inferiore, the courtyards, yards, and open spaces bordering the canal are brought to life by dozens of local associations, artisans, artists, and businesses. It is a community festival, born from the collaboration between the Municipality of Bagnacavallo and the Villa Prati Zone Council, which focuses on typical products, local creativity, and conviviality.

What to find along the route

The idea is simple and successful: no single stage, but many stations distributed along the canal, each with its own offering. These range from wine tasting stalls and local products to food stands, refreshment points with Romagna specialties, exhibitions of painting, photography, and crafts, to music and dance performances that accompany visitors' journeys.

The beauty of Naviglio sotto le stelle lies precisely in its slow and widespread nature: you park your car, leave it, and move freely along the embankment, stopping wherever you wish. In some editions, a shuttle service has also been activated to facilitate travel between Bagnacavallo and Villa Prati. The setting of the Naviglio Canal, with its historic mills and country houses, offers a relaxed and familiar atmosphere, capable of attracting over a thousand people each year.
