The community solidarity dinner in the heart of the Val di Sieve
The Solidarity Table of Molino del Piano is one of the most cherished events in this village within the Pontassieve municipality, located in the province of Florence in the heart of Tuscany. Every year, at the start of summer, Via Fratelli Carli transforms into a large open-air dining room: tables lined up for dozens of meters, tablecloths, seating for hundreds of guests, and local association volunteers serving a menu prepared for the occasion.
More than just a dinner, the Table is a collective ritual that strengthens the sense of community in this small Val di Sieve village. You dine elbow-to-elbow with neighbors, friends, and visitors in a convivial, grassroots atmosphere that is the true heart of the evening.
The defining feature of the Table is its solidarity: the proceeds from the evening are donated each year to a different charitable cause chosen by the organizing associations. Over the years, the event has supported local organizations and, in times of emergency, broader causes such as supporting the Alto Mugello municipalities affected by flooding.
For the 2026 edition, proceeds support the Uno per Tutti association and its "Parla con tutti" (Speak with Everyone) project, dedicated to Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC): a set of tools and strategies that foster inclusion and improve communication options for people with disabilities or verbal expression difficulties.
The Table is made possible by the collective work of numerous local entities that join forces every year to organize the evening. Organizers include:
This volunteer network is part of the annual "Molino per..." project, which gathers the village's solidarity initiatives.
Molino del Piano is a village of Pontassieve, a Tuscan municipality nestled at the confluence of the Arno and Sieve rivers, at the gateway to the Mugello and Chianti Rufina regions. It is a land of hills, vineyards, and farming traditions, where village festivals and solidarity events like the Table keep the bond between people alive. Participating in the Table also means discovering an authentic corner of the Florentine countryside, far from the most crowded tourist circuits.
The 19th Solidarity Table of Molino del Piano took place on Sunday, June 14, 2026, starting at 7:00 PM along Via Fratelli Carli. As per tradition, the long village table brought the community together around a set menu at a cost of 15 euros per person, with tickets available in advance at the ARCI La Torretta Circle, the MCL Circle, Coop stores, and local shops.
