The most anticipated week of faith and celebration in Montenero
The Solemn Celebrations in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Bisaccia are the most cherished event of the year in Montenero di Bisaccia, in the province of Campobasso. Our Lady of Bisaccia, venerated in the sanctuary of the same name, is the patron saint of the town; devotion to Saint Nicholas of Bari is also part of the festivities.
The week of celebration, organized by the Pastoral Community 'Maria Santissima di Bisaccia', alternates moments of intense religiosity — the Via Matris along the Calanchi, the solemn Mass presided over by the Bishop of Termoli-Larino, and processions — with cultural initiatives (book presentations, school recitals) and major free concerts in Piazza della Libertà, which attract thousands of people.
The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Bisaccia is located in the evocative landscape of the badlands surrounding Montenero: a unique setting that makes the celebrations and processions of this identity festival of Basso Molise even more striking.
The 2026 edition was held from May 12 to 17 in Montenero di Bisaccia, organized by the Pastoral Community 'Maria Santissima di Bisaccia'. A week that combined devotion, culture, and major free concerts in Piazza della Libertà, under the banner of the patron saint Our Lady of Bisaccia and Saint Nicholas of Bari.
Montenero di Bisaccia (CB) is accessible from the A14 highway (Montenero di Bisaccia-Vasto Sud exit) and the SS16. The celebrations take place between the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Bisaccia, the Church of San Matteo, and Piazza della Libertà.
In May, with a week of celebrations.
Free celebrations and concerts.
