The Solemn Celebrations in honor of Maria SS. Immacolata are the most cherished event of the year in San Felice a Cancello, a town in the province of Caserta, Campania, lying at the base of Monte Sant'Angelo near the Nola area. For a few days in late July, the town transforms: streets are adorned with lights, families return from neighboring towns and abroad, balconies are decorated, and the community gathers around its patron saint.

This is no ordinary street event. The feast is a synthesis of popular devotion rooted over generations and a tradition of hospitality involving the parish, associations, merchants, and the entire social fabric of the municipality. It is the moment when the center and its hamlets—from Cancello Scalo to Talanico, and up to Botteghino—reunite under a single identity.

The religious program

The liturgical aspect marks the entire week and remains the heart of the celebration. In the days leading up to the solemnity, the Rosary is held in the late afternoon followed by evening Holy Mass, while Sunday concentrates the most intense moments.

Alongside the liturgy runs the secular program, curated by the committee and the Pro Loco. The hub of the events is Viale Giovanni XXIII, where the main stage is built and the traditional illuminations are lit.

The stage in San Felice a Cancello has hosted highly beloved artists in Campania in recent years: in 2024, the concert by Franco Ricciardi, and in 2025, the grand finale with Enzo Avitabile accompanied by the Bottari di Portico and the Black Tarantellas Band, preceded by an evening with Susy Graziano, Marika Rea, and Pupatella. A programming choice that explicitly focuses on Neapolitan, popular, and singer-songwriter music.

Who organizes it

The organization is entrusted to the Pro Loco «Polis» Aps together with the Fests and Events Committee of San Felice a Cancello, under the patronage of the Municipality. The coordination of the religious program is handled by the parish, while fundraising among citizens remains, as per tradition, one of the elements that make the feast possible every year.
