About SN Trail Run
Run on the tracks of history
The SN Trail Run is a trail running event that starts from the historic center of Spoleto, in the province of Perugia, and develops along the route of the disused Spoleto-Norcia railway, now a splendid nature trail with tunnels, bridges, and viaducts immersed in greenery. The route also crosses the evocative Monteluco forest, the sacred wood overlooking the city.
Three routes for every runner
The race offers three competitive distances, designed to welcome both the most trained ultrarunners and those tackling trail running for the first time. The routes alternate easy terrain along the former railway line with more technical sections in the woods, offering panoramic views of the Spoleto Valley. The event is valid for the international iTRA and UTMB Index circuits.
A heritage to rediscover by running
The former Spoleto-Norcia railway, inaugurated in 1926 and decommissioned in the 1960s, is considered a national monument of industrial archaeology. Running the SN Trail Run means rediscovering this engineering masterpiece immersed in the Umbrian landscape, in a sporting event that combines sport, nature, and historical memory.
SN Trail Run — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the SN Trail Run takes place on Sunday, May 31st, as part of the long Spoleto-Norcia weekend (May 30 - June 2). The date has been moved from September to May to coincide with the celebrations for the centenary of the Spoleto-Norcia railway (1926-2026), a national monument of industrial archaeology. The race runs along the former railway track and through the Monteluco forest, with three competitive routes and validity for the iTRA and UTMB Index circuits.
