Summer theatre and entertainment festival for families in Vermiglio
The Shows for Children and Families are a staple of the summer season in Vermiglio, the westernmost municipality of the Val di Sole, in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige). Every year, throughout July and August, the local Teatro Polo Culturale opens its doors to a series of performances specifically designed for children and their families, with completely free admission.
The programme alternates between different genres and styles to take little ones on a journey of imagination and wonder: magic and illusionist shows, musical entertainment, comedy theatre, storytelling, and group games. Each event is crafted to directly involve the young audience, who become active participants in the stories being performed. The indoor setting, within the municipal theatre, makes the festival an excellent alternative on less sunny days during your mountain holiday.
The festival runs on a weekly basis, typically in the early afternoon, making it easy to fit into the rhythm of summer holidays for families staying in Vermiglio and the nearby locations of the Tonale and Val di Sole area. Throughout the summer, numerous different events take place, each featuring a different company or artist, offering children a fresh show every week.
Situated at an altitude of over 1,200 metres, at the foot of the Tonale Pass and just a stone's throw from the Stelvio National Park, Vermiglio is a highly appreciated destination for family summer holidays. The Teatro Polo Culturale, which also houses the tourist information office and the White War Museum, is one of the town's main cultural hubs. The children's festival is part of a rich calendar of summer events promoted by the Municipality of Vermiglio together with Vermiglio Vacanze, designed to enliven the town's tourist season.
Admission to the shows is free and open to all, with no reservation required, and is suitable for children of all ages. It is a simple and pleasant opportunity to spend a few hours together, discovering the cultural vibrancy of a small mountain village in Trentino.
The Shows for Children and Families festival returns to Vermiglio in the summer of 2026. The Municipality's event calendar indicates the start of the appointments from Monday, July 6, 2026, with the usual weekly frequency during the months of July and August at the Teatro Polo Culturale.
At the moment, the detailed programme of the individual shows for the 2026 edition has not yet been released: the titles and guest companies will be announced on the official Vermiglio Vacanze channels in the weeks leading up to the start of the season. Admission remains free and the festival confirms its vocation as entertainment for children and families on holiday in the Val di Sole.
