A review that tells the story of Emilia

Sguardi dell'Emilia - Review of words, music, and images was born in 2026 as a new cultural event spread across three Municipalities in the Modenese area: Spilamberto (lead Municipality), Castelnuovo Rangone, and Castelvetro di Modena. Conceived by the Councilor for Culture of Spilamberto, Alessandra Anderlini, the first edition takes place from April 9 to 18, 2026, under the patronage of the Emilia-Romagna Region and the Province of Modena.

The common thread is the attempt to capture the Emilian identity in all its nuances: mainstream and underground imagination, perspectives tied to tradition and more inventive and creative ones. A mix of concreteness and poetry, irony and passion, which translates into performances, screenings, exhibitions, meetings with authors, and music evenings open to all genres.

The program in Spilamberto

The events in Spilamberto are concentrated from April 9 to 12. The preview on Thursday, April 9 (8:30 PM) is a participatory reading through the streets of the historic center dedicated to the writer Pier Vittorio Tondelli, with Monica Varroni and the Collettivo Artificio and musical accompaniment by Tiziano Popoli; the journey, built around the themes of travel, love, and wine, concludes at the Osteria del 32 mentioned in Un weekend postmoderno.

• Friday, April 10, 8:30 PM - Spazio Eventi L. Famigli: "4/03/1943… Lucio Dalla!", a theater-music performance with Gianmarco Tognazzi, accompanied by Rocco Debernardis (clarinet), Leo Binetti (piano), and Francesco Tiziani (guitar).
• Saturday, April 11, 5:30 PM - Rocca Rangoni: inauguration of the exhibition "Flash! A flash from the past – Comics and cartoons in the Rocca", curated by Andrea Losavio in collaboration with the Civic Museum of Modena (open on weekends until April 26).
• Saturday, April 11, 8:30 PM - Spazio Eventi L. Famigli: screening of the documentary "Bonvi: una vita inventata", with the director Silvio Governi present.
• Sunday, April 12, 5:00 PM - Santa Maria degli Angeli: meeting with writers Ugo Cornia and Ermanno Cavazzoni.
• Sunday, April 12, 9:00 PM - Spazio Famigli: "Meeting with Cisco between music and words", with Stefano "Cisco" Bellotti, former frontman of Modena City Ramblers.

Events in other Municipalities

The review continues in Castelnuovo Rangone on Friday, April 17 (9:00 PM, Auditorium Bavieri) with "Tommaso Aspetta – Tribute to Tom Waits". Saturday, April 18, the closing day takes place in Castelvetro di Modena, between the Museo Rosso Graspa and the Castello di Levizzano: children's theater with "Tirindine, conti e canti", the musical meeting "Valzer, Lambrusco e Libertà" dedicated to Emilian musical heritage, and the evening "Si balla il Liscio con La Vaporiera", a tribute to the traditional dance of the region.

The review unites three communities in the Modenese area in a choral story of Emilia-Romagna, a land of music, literature, comics, and popular tradition, from liscio to the voices of its great storytellers.
