The food and wine walk through the hills of Castellarano
Sentieri Golosi is the most beloved food and wine walk in Castellarano, a small village in the Province of Reggio Emilia, in Emilia-Romagna, overlooking the Secchia valley. Also known as the Castellarano 'magnalonga' (food walk), it is a non-competitive walk of about 14 km that winds along the paths and hills surrounding the town, alternating the pleasure of walking in the open air with that of good food.
Participants start in groups of a maximum of 70 people, with staggered departures every 20 minutes from early morning until early afternoon. Along the route, there are seven gastronomic stops, each dedicated to a different course: starting with breakfast and continuing with an aperitif, first course, second course, sorbet, snack with beer, and finally ice cream, with water refills in between. Each stop offers tastings of typical products, drinks, and musical entertainment, on a route designed to be enjoyed without haste, amidst hilly landscapes and views of the village.
The event is suitable for all ages: the pace is that of a leisurely walk, children are welcome, and the atmosphere is festive and convivial. The walk is organized by the Pro Loco Castellarano with the contribution of numerous local associations from the area, who manage the refreshments and hospitality along the route.
The meeting, start, and finish point is the Casa Aperta of the Parco dei Popoli, where the day concludes with a big party open to everyone, even those who did not participate in the walk: live music, DJ sets, and Emilian gastronomic specialties liven up the Arena dei Popoli until the evening. An opportunity to discover the hospitality of Castellarano and the authentic flavors of the Reggio Emilia Apennines.
The 2026 edition of Sentieri Golosi, the sixteenth of the event, attracted over a thousand participants to Castellarano.
