A night of music and celebration along the Santerno River in Firenzuola
Santerno in Piena is the most beloved summer event in Firenzuola, a small mountain town in the Upper Mugello area of the province of Florence, in the heart of the Tuscan Apennines. It is a single, long night of music and entertainment held outdoors in the Le Fornaci area, right along the banks of the Santerno River, the waterway that gives the event its name and flows through the valley toward nearby Romagna.
The story of Santerno in Piena began in 2007, when six friends, gathered at a bar, decided to shake up the monotony of the town's summer evenings. What started as an informal project has grown year after year to become a staple event not only for Firenzuola but for the entire Upper Mugello territory. Now in its eighteenth edition, the festival is considered one of the largest open-air events in the entire Mugello region.
The heart of Santerno in Piena is the music: DJ sets, pre-parties, and formats designed to keep the crowd dancing and singing until late at night. In past editions, the evening centered around the Rewind format, a journey through the musical hits of the past, with DJs and guests animating the riverbank. The 2026 edition focuses on a major event dedicated to musical nostalgia and collective celebration.
Behind Santerno in Piena is the work of a dedicated association that organizes everything in collaboration with the Pro Loco and the Municipality of Firenzuola. The organizational machine involves over fifty volunteers, with the support of the local Alpini and Misericordia: a concrete example of how a small mountain community can bring to life an event capable of attracting hundreds of people. Admission has always been free, a sign of a festival designed for the whole town and for anyone who wants to reach Firenzuola on a summer night.
Firenzuola, also known for its tradition of pietra serena stone, is an ideal destination for those who want to discover the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines away from the most crowded routes. Santerno in Piena is the perfect opportunity to combine an evening of music with a day spent in the green landscapes of the Santerno valley, between Tuscany and the Romagna border.
On Saturday, July 25, 2026, Firenzuola returns to the dance floor with the eighteenth edition of Santerno in Piena, at Le Fornaci on the banks of the Santerno River. The evening, starting at 10:30 PM, is dedicated to music and collective celebration, with free entry and the atmosphere that attracts hundreds of people from all over the Upper Mugello every year.
As per tradition, the evening includes DJ sets and moments of celebration that continue until late at night. Any updates and details regarding guests will be published on the official social media channels of the event.
