The Sant'Osvaldo Patronal Feast is the most cherished religious and community event in Bedollo, a municipality on the Piné Plateau in the Autonomous Province of Trento, Trentino-Alto Adige. The feast takes place around August 5th, the day the Church commemorates Saint Oswald of Northumbria, king and martyr, the village's patron saint to whom the parish church is dedicated.
The parish church of Bedollo has been dedicated to Saint Oswald since ancient times: the first mention of a sacred building in the village dates back to 1299, while the current structure, designed by Claudio Carneri, was built between 1759 and 1783 and consecrated on September 15, 1833. The community was elevated to an autonomous parish in 1919. For generations, the devotion of the plateau's inhabitants has revolved around this place of worship, which overlooks the lower part of the village.
The highlight of the celebration is the solemn High Mass held in the parish church, followed by a procession where the statue of Saint Oswald is carried through the village streets by the gathered community. After the liturgical rites, the festivities continue with a reception at the rectory, an opportunity for meeting and conviviality that renews the village's bonds every year. This simple yet deeply heartfelt celebration blends faith, tradition, and community life in one of the most characteristic locations of the Cembra Valley and the Piné Plateau.
Situated in a mountain area rich in forests, lakes, and meadows, Bedollo is a popular destination for summer tourism and is known for its well-preserved traditions. The patronal feast is an opportunity to rediscover the village's identity and experience the authentic atmosphere of a Trentino mountain community that keeps the cult of its patron saint alive.
The 2026 Sant'Osvaldo Patronal Feast in Bedollo will follow the established tradition of the Piné Plateau community. Official dates and programs have not yet been published: the feast usually takes place in early August, around the liturgical commemoration of August 5th, featuring Mass in the parish church, the procession with the statue of Saint Oswald, and a reception at the rectory. It is recommended to check for updates via the parish and the information channels of the Piné Plateau.
