Bacoli's patron saint celebration: faith, open-air concerts, and fireworks over the Marina Grande sea
The Sant'Anna Patronal Festival is the most significant and cherished annual celebration for the community of Bacoli, a town in the Phlegraean Fields overlooking the Gulf of Pozzuoli, in the province of Naples, Campania. Every year, around July 26th—the liturgical day dedicated to Saint Anne, mother of the Virgin Mary and patron saint of the town—the city unites around its protector in a festival that weaves together popular devotion, maritime tradition, and grand entertainment.
The event is divided into two distinct yet complementary parts. The first, strictly parochial and religious in nature, includes liturgical celebrations, preparation rites, and above all, the solemn procession with the statue of Saint Anne through the streets of the center, followed by thousands of the faithful. The second part, more festive in spirit, transforms Bacoli into a large open-air stage with free concerts, shows, entertainment, and markets.
The secular heart of the festival is the lineup of free concerts that bring the lakeside area to life every evening. The stage hosts well-known names from the Neapolitan and Italian music scene, tribute bands, and shows dedicated to the greatest hits of yesterday and today, creating a shared atmosphere that draws audiences from all the Phlegraean municipalities. Admission is always free, in keeping with the popular and inclusive spirit of the patronal festival.
The most anticipated moment is the grand pyrotechnic finale at Marina Grande: from the harbor waters, a fireworks display rises and reflects on the sea, admired from the shore and from the many boats anchored nearby. It is a collective ritual that concludes the festival and, for the people of Bacoli, represents the true farewell to summer.
Alongside music and religious rites, the festival offers craft markets, stalls selling local products and sweets, as well as numerous activities dedicated to children and families. The streets of the center are filled with illuminations and the aromas of local gastronomy, in an atmosphere that combines the sacred and the profane in the best tradition of Southern Italian patronal festivals.
Experiencing the Sant'Anna Festival means discovering Bacoli and the Phlegraean Fields, a land of ancient history nestled between Lake Miseno, the Casina Vanvitelliana, the Roman Baths, and the Capo Miseno promontory. The festival is promoted by the Municipality of Bacoli as part of the city's broader summer calendar and is today one of the most deeply rooted and well-attended events in the entire Phlegraean area.
The 2026 edition confirms the two-part format. The religious and parish phase is concentrated between July 23 and 26, with liturgical celebrations and the solemn procession of the patron saint. From July 31 to August 5, the rich program of free concerts in the square kicks off, culminating in the pyrotechnic show at Marina Grande. The event, promoted by the Municipality of Bacoli, is funded with approximately 156,000 euros, of which 118,500 comes from the Metropolitan City of Naples.

During the concerts, traffic management measures and free evening shuttle buses are in operation.
Open-air shows are held in the lakeside area; on event days, the Municipality provides free shuttles and road closures on Via Lungolago, Via Miseno, and Via Risorgimento.
All concerts and events in the square are free of charge.
