Nearly 600 stalls invade San Fruttuoso for one of the largest fairs in Northern Italy
The Sant'Agata Fair is one of the most imposing events in the Genoa calendar and one of the largest street fairs in Northern Italy. It takes place in the San Fruttuoso district, which for one day is completely transformed by the arrival of about 550 stalls. Its roots go back centuries, linked to the devotion for Sant'Agata, venerated in the church of the same name in the district, and to the ancient tradition of exchange between farmers, breeders, and merchants.
The stalls are spread along Corso Sardegna and in numerous adjacent streets and squares - Via Giacometti, Via Casoni, Piazza Terralba, Via Torti, Piazza Martinez, Piazza Giusti, Piazza Manzoni, Corso Galilei - creating a veritable commercial belt around the district. The offer is vast: typical gastronomic products and specialties from various Italian regions, household goods, clothing, work tools, and gardening items.
Open from 8 am to 8 pm, the fair attracts a huge audience from all over the city and province. For many Genoese, it is an unmissable event, a day to dedicate to strolling among the stalls, shopping, and discovering gastronomic specialties, in an atmosphere of popular celebration.
Organized by the Municipality of Genoa, the Sant'Agata Fair testifies to the extraordinary vitality of Genoese commercial traditions. In a district like San Fruttuoso, the fair remains a very strong moment of identity and aggregation, one of the most characteristic events of the Genoese winter and of the entire Liguria region.
