The historic train arrives in the Scrivia Valley
A Journey into History is the autumn event in Ronco Scrivia, in the Scrivia Valley (Metropolitan City of Genoa), which combines the charm of the historic train with the rediscovery of the village and its traditions. The event is organized by the Municipality with Liguria Region, Fondazione FS Italiane, and Trenitalia, as part of the project for historic trains in the Ligurian hinterland.
Markets, gastronomy, and re-enactment
Upon the arrival of the vintage train, travelers and visitors will find in the village:
- Markets and stalls of typical products and crafts;
- Food stalls with the specialties of the Scrivia Valley;
- Historical re-enactment and entertainment in the center;
- the opportunity to discover the village and its most characteristic corners.
An experience between past and territory
The journey aboard the vintage carriages, along the historic Giovi line connecting Genoa to the plain, is already part of the experience: a slow and evocative way to reach Ronco Scrivia and immerse yourself in the atmospheres of yesteryear. The event, included among the Authentic Ligurian Events, enhances the link between the railway and the historical development of the Scrivia Valley.

The 2026 edition confirms the appointment in Ronco Scrivia with the historic train and re-enactment. The event, included among the Authentic Ligurian Events 2026, includes the arrival of the vintage train from Genoa, welcomed by markets, gastronomy, and historical animation.
Precise dates, timetables for the historic train, and ticket purchase methods will be communicated by the Municipality, Liguria Region, and Fondazione FS in the weeks prior.
Programme A Journey into History 2026
The detailed program and historic train timetables will be published by the Municipality and Fondazione FS. The usual structure includes:
- Departure of the historic train from Genova Brignole in the morning, arriving in Ronco Scrivia;
- Markets and stalls of typical products and crafts upon arrival;
- Food stalls with specialties from the Scrivia Valley;
- Historical re-enactment and entertainment in the town center;
- Return historic train towards Genoa in the late afternoon.

How to get there
The historic train generally departs from Genova Brignole in the morning, arriving in Ronco Scrivia; tickets and timetables are communicated by Fondazione FS and Trenitalia. Ronco Scrivia can also be reached by regional trains on the Genoa-Milan line and by car from the A7 exit.
Admission
Access to the event in the village is free. Travel on the historic train requires a ticket.
