The Patron Saint's Fair

The San Vittore Fair, also called the Spring Fair, is one of the oldest events in Porlezza, a town on Lake Lugano (Ceresio) in the province of Como. It is held on the third Monday of May in honor of the patron saint San Vittore and is rooted in the town's long tradition of fairs and markets, which has hosted a weekly market for over six centuries.

Stalls in the Streets and on the Lakefront

For the occasion, exhibitors' stalls are set up along the main streets of the town center and the lakefront: Via Prati, Lungolago Matteotti, Viale delle Rimembranze, Via alla Fabbrica, and the Porto Letizia parking area. Goods of all kinds, local products, crafts, and stalls transform the town into a large open-air market, from early morning until evening.

Originally a livestock and goods fair, the San Vittore Fair today retains the character of a popular festival that marks the arrival of the warm season on Lake Ceresio.
