The traditional village fair on Lake Como
Overlooking the waters of Lake Como, the village of Moltrasio, in the Province of Como, celebrates its patron saint Saint Martin with a festival rooted in the 19th century — documented tradition dates back to 1883. Every November, around the 11th, the town gathers for a day that combines religious and popular dimensions.
The central moment is the solemn Mass, celebrated on a Sunday morning in the presence of the municipal administration and local associations. Immediately after, the traditional fair comes to life, extending along Via Roma and Via Besana, with hobbyist stalls also animating Viale delle Rimembranze and Piazza Umberto Primo.
The festival is also an occasion for taste: the town's associations offer traditional dishes and some new creations at various food stalls, in the true spirit of the Saint Martin's fair, linked to autumn flavors. The drawing exhibition and the pasta-making workshop are held in the Library, activities that engage both adults and children and enrich the program.
More than just a fair, the Feast of Saint Martin is the moment when Moltrasio reaffirms its identity as a community, blending faith, craftsmanship, and conviviality. For those visiting Lake Como in autumn, it's an opportunity to discover the authentic soul of a village far from the summer tourist crowds.
In 2026, Moltrasio will once again celebrate its patron saint Saint Martin with the festival that has united faith and popular tradition for over a century. The program includes the solemn Mass in the presence of the municipal administration and associations, followed by the traditional fair along Via Roma and Via Besana, with hobbyist stalls, local flavors, and the drawing exhibition with a pasta-making workshop in the Library.
The precise date of the celebration Sunday will be announced by the Municipality of Moltrasio closer to the event.
