Caslino d'Erba Goat and Goat Cheese Fair

A fair dedicated to the goat

The Goat and Goat Cheese Fair is the defining event of Caslino d'Erba, a small municipality in the Larian Triangle, in the Province of Como, nestled among the hills separating the two branches of Lake Como. Every year in September, for over twenty-five editions, the town transforms into a large showcase of goat culture and its products, attracting breeders, curious visitors, and gourmets — around five thousand visitors in the most successful editions.

Goat breeds and cheese

The absolute protagonist is the goat, with the exhibition of the main Lombard goat breeds and in particular the Orobie goat, a native breed from the valleys. Alongside the animals, the true treasure of the fair is the goat cheese from Caslino, which can be tasted and purchased along with other typical local products. The event aims precisely to promote the native breed and the gastronomic specialities linked to its tradition.

Crafts, flavours, and music

The day is not just about goats and cheeses: along the streets of the centre, there are stalls of crafts, stands of typical products, and gastronomic stands, while music and entertainment accompany the visitors. In recent editions, the fair has also been enriched with initiatives related to Slow Food and moments of in-depth discussion on the rural culture of the Larian Triangle.

A heritage of the Larian Triangle

More than a simple market exhibition, the Goat Fair has become a symbol of Caslino d'Erba and an opportunity to rediscover the deep connection between the town, its mountains, and sheep farming. Organized with the support of the Pro Loco and the Municipality, it continues to attract thousands of people every September, confirming itself as one of the most beloved events of the Como autumn.
