International contemporary art competition in the city of love
San Valentino Arte is the international contemporary art competition that animates Terni, the city of the patron saint of lovers, every February. The event, promoted by the Municipality of Terni, brings together artists from different geographical contexts and expressive languages, on a theme that changes with each edition.
The competition attracts artists from numerous nations across different continents, making Terni a meeting point between cultures and trends in contemporary art. The selected works are exhibited and awarded, in a process that values both established protagonists and new proposals.
In addition to exhibitions, the program includes awards ceremonies, guided tours, educational activities for primary schools, creative workshops for children, and collateral events dedicated to solidarity, scientific dissemination, and cultural promotion. The main venue is the Diocesan and Chapter Museum, in the heart of the Umbrian city, which for the occasion opens its doors to a broad and diverse audience.
The 13th edition of San Valentino Arte takes place in Terni from February 7 to 22, 2026, at the Diocesan and Chapter Museum. The chosen theme, 'Avant-gardes and Tradition', pays homage to the great sculptor Constantin Brâncuși, a pioneer of modern sculpture.
The international competition brings together artists from different contexts and languages. The program includes three thematic exhibitions with works by winners from previous editions and contemporary pieces, guided tours, educational activities for primary schools, creative workshops for children, and collateral events. The inauguration is scheduled for February 7 at 5:00 PM.
Terni is reachable by train (Rome-Ancona line) and by car from the E45 and SS Flaminia. The main venue is the Diocesan and Chapter Museum, in the city center.
