Street food in the shadow of St. Peter's Dome, at Piazzale Gregorio VII
San Pietro TTS Street Food is the Roman stop of the traveling gastronomic tour by TTS Food (Typical Truck Street Food), a format created by Mela Eventi. The event transforms Piazzale Gregorio VII, in the heart of the Aurelio district near St. Peter's, into a large open-air gourmet village with a scenic view of the Dome of St. Peter's Basilica. Its location, along the charming Passeggiata del Gelsomino that connects the San Pietro train station to Piazza del Sant'Uffizio, makes it one of the most distinctive appointments in the food and wine calendar of Rome, in Lazio.
The heart of the event is a brigade of over 20 selected street chefs, ready to cook fresh to order from their food trucks and kitchen stands. For three days, the square becomes the city's largest restaurant under the stars, with sweet and savory offerings, as well as vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options prepared to avoid cross-contamination.
The gastronomic offer is accompanied by a carefully curated selection of drinks: raw beer from the Bavarian brewery Landshuter Brauhaus and the Drink Lab, a mixology format with cocktails and Spritz prepared on the spot by expert bartenders. Lighting effects, music, and decor enhance the evenings, while spacious areas equipped with tables and seating allow visitors to enjoy their meals while gazing up at the Dome.
With free entry and a formula designed for families, young people, and tourists, San Pietro TTS Street Food combines the tradition of Italian street food with the discovery of world cuisines. It is the ideal occasion for a gourmet stroll in one of Rome's most iconic spots, amidst the aroma of grills and the view of St. Peter's Basilica.
The 2026 edition of San Pietro TTS Street Food took place at Piazzale Gregorio VII in Rome from Friday, May 15 to Sunday, May 17, with free entry. Three days dedicated to the best street food, between Italian tradition and international cuisines, with a brigade of over twenty street chefs at the stoves.
Among the offerings: Sicilian, Apulian, Marche, Abruzzese, and Roman specialties, alongside Mexican, Venezuelan, Greek, Indian, Spanish, Argentine, and American barbecue cuisine. There was no shortage of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, as well as a wide choice of desserts. The raw Bavarian beer from the Landshuter Brauhaus brewery and the Drink Lab with cocktails and Spritz completed the offer, amidst bright scenery, music, and equipped areas with a view of the Dome.
