The patronal feast of Vigo Rendena, in Val Rendena
The San Lorenzo Festival is the celebration of the patron saint of Vigo Rendena, a mountain village at an altitude of approximately 612 meters that has been part of the municipality of Porte di Rendena in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige) since 2016. Every year on August 10th, the day dedicated to Saint Lawrence the Martyr, the community gathers around its parish church to celebrate the patron saint with a festival that blends religious devotion with village life.
Vigo Rendena lies partly on the slopes of Corno Basso and partly on the valley floor, within the Adamello Brenta Nature Park, in the heart of Val Rendena. The village has ancient origins, and its location has always made it an ideal starting point for summer hikes and for reaching the Madonna di Campiglio ski area in winter. In this Alpine setting, the patronal feast retains the authentic flavor of traditional mountain festivals.
The highlight of the day is the solemn mass in the church dedicated to San Lorenzo, followed by festivities that bring the village to life. The patronal feast is deeply rooted in the identity of the village: it is around this date that the community of Vigo Rendena has organized itself for generations.
A special bond links the festival to the Corpo Musicale Vigo-Darè, the brass band founded in 1924 that made its debut in August 1925, on the occasion of the San Lorenzo patronal feast. Since then, the band has accompanied the festivities with its performances, a continuity that reached its centenary in 2025, celebrated with a book dedicated to the history of the ensemble. The band's music remains one of the most characteristic elements of the event.
Around the patronal feast, the lively Pro Loco of Vigo Rendena enlivens the village calendar with numerous initiatives throughout the year, from the Canederlo Festival to the Ice Cream Festival. However, the San Lorenzo Festival remains the quintessential identity-defining event: an opportunity to rediscover the tradition, faith, and community spirit of this corner of Val Rendena.
The 2026 San Lorenzo Festival will take place on August 10th in Vigo Rendena, a village in the municipality of Porte di Rendena, in Val Rendena (Trentino-Alto Adige). As every year, the patronal feast combines religious celebration in the church of San Lorenzo with festive moments in the village, accompanied by the Corpo Musicale Vigo-Darè.
The detailed program of the festivities, including mass times and activities, will be released closer to the date by the parish and the Pro Loco of Vigo Rendena.
