The patronal feast in the village of murals, in the Cadore Dolomites
The San Lorenzo Festival is the most cherished summer event in Cibiana di Cadore, a small municipality in the province of Belluno nestled in the heart of the Dolomites, at the foot of Monte Rite. The subtitle "the Village that Tells Stories" is no accident: Cibiana is known as the village of murals, because since the 1980s the facades of its houses have become canvases for painters who have depicted the village's memory, the trades of the past, and the stories of local families.
The festival revolves around the figure of San Lorenzo, celebrated on August 10th, the night of the shooting stars. Religious devotion is combined with community spirit: the two days of the festival are a time when the village comes together, and when the many summer visitors who choose Cadore for their holidays are welcomed among the stalls and squares of the historic center.
The festival is organized by the Pro Loco of Cibiana di Cadore and offers typical mountain gastronomy, musical performances, and social opportunities for all ages. A simple and authentic formula, where the real protagonist remains the village itself, with its murals to be explored on foot and the Dolomite backdrop that changes color at sunset.
Visiting Cibiana during the San Lorenzo Festival means combining two experiences: the discovery of one of the most original villages in Cadore, where art has entered everyday life, and participation in a genuine village festival, far from mass tourism, in the heart of the Dolomite summer.
The San Lorenzo Festival โ Cibiana the Village that Tells Stories returns in 2026 on Saturday, August 9th, and Sunday, August 10th, as confirmed by the communication from Cadore Dolomiti and the Pro Loco. The festival is centered in the historic heart of Cibiana, among the frescoed houses that have made the village famous.
For 2026 too, the program blends the religious dimension of the San Lorenzo feast with the conviviality of the festival: gastronomic stalls with typical Cadore dishes, musical moments, and an invitation to discover the mural itinerary. It is a family-friendly village festival, designed for residents and holidaymakers alike.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be published by the Pro Loco of Cibiana di Cadore in the weeks preceding the festival.
