The patronal feast of Seravezza, one of the oldest fairs in Versilia
San Lorenzo is the patron saint of Seravezza, a town in the historic Versilia region in the province of Lucca, Tuscany. Every year, around August 10th, the town gathers to honor its patron with the San Lorenzo Fair, considered one of the oldest fairs in all of Versilia. The event brings the historic center to life for two full days, blending religious, popular, commercial, and gastronomic elements.
For generations, the fair has attracted exhibitors, merchants, and visitors from across the Lucchesia region and the Versilia coast. Along the streets and squares of the center, traditional market stalls and artisanal craft booths line the paths, showcasing local products and the work of local associations. The fair is the commercial heart of the celebration, but it is also a vital gathering point for the community, which has always viewed these days as a defining moment of the Seravezza summer.
Alongside the fair, the most evocative and identity-defining parts of the celebration take place. On the eve of the feast, the procession begins, winding through the streets from the Cathedral of Saints Lorenzo and Barbara. The most anticipated moment is the Focata di San Lorenzo: after the blessing of the fire at Puntone, a large bonfire is lit on the riverbed, where people gather to watch for the shooting stars of the "magical night" of August 10th. The festivities are completed by the stordellata by the river, a concert by the Riomagno Philharmonic, the traditional tombola in the square, and, as a grand finale, the fireworks display that illuminates the sky over Seravezza.
The festival is also a journey into traditional Versilian cuisine and the products of the Lucchesia area, offered by local agricultural producers and food stands. Culture, devotion, popular tradition, and local flavors coexist in an event that renews the deep bond between Seravezza and its patron every summer.
The 2026 San Lorenzo Fair will be held in Seravezza (LU) on August 9th and 10th in the historic center. The dates are confirmed by the Municipality of Seravezza's notice for the assignment of 37 fair stalls (34 for general goods, 2 for agricultural producers, and 1 reserved for people with disabilities).
For 2026, an important experiment is announced: the fair is extended to full capacity on both days, with exhibitors present in large numbers on both August 9th and 10th. Among the associations featured at the craft market are QuercetArte and Rilax.
As per tradition, the free shuttle service will be active from 6:30 PM to 12:00 AM, departing from the Querceta bus terminal. The detailed evening program (procession, Focata, stordellata, Philharmonic concert, tombola, and fireworks) will be announced by the Municipality and the Pro Loco in the weeks preceding the festival.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition, including times and events, will be published by the Municipality of Seravezza and the Pro Loco in the weeks leading up to the festival. The dates are confirmed: August 9th and 10th, 2026, in the historic center.
