Collazzone Celebrates San Lorenzo

Saint Lawrence the Deacon and Martyr is the patron saint of Collazzone, a small medieval village perched on the hills of the province of Perugia, and is celebrated on August 10th. The patronal feast is one of the most cherished events by the community, which for generations has renewed its devotion to the titular saint of the ancient abbey overlooking the town.

Between Spirituality and Sacred Music

The religious program includes solemn masses, the celebration of second vespers, and highly evocative moments, such as Gregorian chant concerts alternated with organ pieces in the Abbey of San Lorenzo. There are also cultural conferences dedicated to local history and the figure of Jacopone da Todi, who is deeply connected to this territory.

The Community's Feast

Alongside the spiritual dimension, the Pro Loco of Collazzone enlivens the feast with convivial moments, such as the aperitif offered in the square dedicated to Blessed Simone da Collazzone. Parish choirs from the area accompany the celebrations, strengthening the bond between the hamlets of Collazzone, Collepepe, and Gaglietole.

The celebrations are also an opportunity to visit one of the most characteristic villages in central Umbria: medieval alleys, panoramic views of the Tiber valley, and the imposing Abbey of San Lorenzo, the symbolic heart of Collazzone.
