The children's carnival in the heart of the Casale Monferrato area
When February arrives, San Giorgio Monferrato—a small town in the Province of Alessandria, in the heart of the Casale Monferrato area in Piedmont—is painted in the colors of its Carnival. It is one of those authentic local festivals, made of confetti, DIY costumes, and children's laughter, where the size of the event matters less than the joy of being together. The afternoon takes place in Piazza Miglietta, which becomes the beating heart of the community for a few hours.
The unique feature of this Carnival is its deeply collective nature. It is not organized by a single entity, but by the entire network of associations in San Giorgio Monferrato: the Pro Loco, the Public Library, the Alpini Group, the ARCI Club, and the Parish, with the patronage of the Municipal Administration. They are joined by volunteers from the Casale Monferrato Committee of the Italian Red Cross, who manage activities for the little ones. The result is a rich and varied program capable of involving both adults and children in a spirit of true collaboration.
The San Giorgio Monferrato Carnival is designed primarily for families with children: a free, open-air event deeply rooted in the popular traditions of the Monferrato area. More than just a show to watch, it is a festival to experience, where the town gathers every year to celebrate the most cheerful season of the year together. If you are passing through the Casale area in February, it is the perfect opportunity to discover the genuine soul of this corner of Piedmont.
